Today is the first day I felt good in the new routine I have started here. Usually I wake up around 9, still exhausted from weird sleeping patterns. I go get breakfast and then find out the plans for the day. Today, Dennis, Linda and I went to the swimming pool for about an hour. We did some relaxing laps and Dennis and I went down the water slide once, which was fun. Then, after whatever the daily activity is, we come back to the house. This is usually when I go on a run or a walk. I alternate so I am not running every day, and today was a walk day. It is very hilly in Germany so I am not running the time or pace that I used to run back home, which has been frustrating, but at least I am doing something. And my butt is very sore so hopefully it tones up more. Then I come home and workout in my room as best I can with resistance bands and calisthenics. This also has not been to the caliber or intensity that I am used to, but I won’t have access to a gym until school starts, so oh well. I am planning on re-ramping up my exercise regime once I get to Heidelberg.
I have really enjoyed the walking/running path I am taking very much. It goes through the woods and is very cool (in the shade) and beautiful. I’ll upload some pictures to Facebook or on my blog eventually. Walking and running has helped clear my head and in theory is helping me manage my stress. At least, exercise is supposed to do that, LOL. Either way, the introvert that I am enjoys the alone time and the nature so I can think and process.
Not much else to update everyone on. I am going to Trier this weekend with Dennis, which should be fun. We are supposed to meet up with his girlfriend who doesn’t speak any English, which makes my anxiety spike, but it will at least be a good way to force me to use my German. Dennis is also going to help me see about getting a Bahn card so I can travel more easily by train, and cheaper. I might have to wait until I get to Heidelberg to finish that process because they might ask for my school ID, which I do not have yet, but we are at least going to go inquire about it.
Off to shower and get the chlorine and sweat off of me, and then I’ll go read for a bit before dinner. After we eat is usually some news/television time and then I go downstairs to my room to watch some Netflix before bed.
I hope you enjoyed the look at my typical day and the next time I write will probably be with updates from Trier.
