I have gotten a couple of questions about why I haven’t written a post in awhile and the honest answer is because I just have not been doing very much. The spring weather here in Germany is just awful. I feel like it rains all the time and I have been sick for a few days now, which really throws a wrench in my plans.
I mostly have been going to classes and doing things near or in Heidelberg. Classes are alright, although significantly less “fun” subjects than last semester because right now I am just taking classes to get specific credits back home, and less out of personal interest. However, they are still interesting and I am learning a lot.
In 10 weeks from today, I fly home. July 31st. That is really mind blowing to me. I have started doing this thing where I say to myself, “Oh I have to do this one more time, or eat at that restaurant one more time before I leave.” Maybe I should actually start doing those things instead of thinking about doing them…
The AJY program has a summer program as well, and those students arrive on Sunday. I am looking forward to meeting them all, although AJY is going to be very crowded and that will certainly be interesting. They are here for 6 weeks and leave shortly before we do.
10 weeks. Only 10 more weeks of this crazy adventure. I don’t even know if I have words to describe how weird that sounds to me. I feel like I have been here forever, and yet, its already almost over. I am so excited to get home though. I have really missed friends and family and it will be awesome to see everyone again. And to all of my relatives who I know are thinking it: Don’t worry, I am still making sure to enjoy the last of my time here. I know everyone will still be there when I get back and I am not taking for granted my last two months. ❤
Next year is naturally my senior year at the University of Denver. That is also crazy to me. How did time pass so quickly? When I get back to campus, I will be super busy with my sorority (which I am so excited about) as I was elected our Devotional Chair and Sergeant of Arms. Basically, I lead weekly Bible Studies during our chapter meetings and I remind people of the guidelines of our chapter as well as keep track of items for ceremonies and events. I will also be initiated into two honors societies that I was nominated into by my university: Phi Beta Kappa, a national Liberal Arts and Sciences Honorary Society, and Alpha Kappa Delta, an International Sociology Honor Society. I am so excited and proud to have been chosen for both of these societies among the many other qualified students on my campus. Senior year will also be busy as I will start applying for jobs (eek), which means lots of resume building, interviews, and if all goes well with my top choice, polygraph exams.
As many of you know, my family is moving to Alabama in a few short weeks, which means I will have the weird experience of “going home” to somewhere I have never actually lived before, although with my dad’s job, this actually is not the first time this has happened (thanks to sleep away camps as a kid as well as grandparent visits). I am excited to be closer to basically all of my extended family and to have big family holidays again. Thanksgiving in Germany just wasn’t the same.
That is basically everything. Sorry my blogs have not been as exciting as first semester where I was a crazy world traveler. For now though, I am just relaxing, enjoying my time, and fighting this stupidly stubborn cold. I will probably do a big picture dump on Facebook sometime soon because I haven’t done that in awhile, so keep an eye out on there.
Love you all!
