Waiting

Hello, World!  Your resident study abroad college student here.  I haven’t written in a little bit, and honestly, that is because I realllyyyyyy haven’t been doing much of anything.  I’ve been going to the gym and doing some hikes and such.  I went to Wissembourg, France for a bit with the other full-years last week (which I still think it is so funny and cool that I can casually just say I popped over to France).  But other than that, I have mostly been watching a lot of Netflix and doing chores like cleaning my room.  Really unexciting.  I am so excited for the next few weeks so I have something to do!

This upcoming week really isn’t exciting either.  I have to do laundry tomorrow but that is my only plan for the week thus far.  But the week after that (so a week from Monday, aka March 4) the new students arrive!  That should be pretty fun and exciting.  It’ll be cool to see the process from the flip side so to speak.  I remember how disoriented and confused I felt, so maybe I’ll be able to help calm some nerves for the new people.

And then, even more exciting (sorry new students), the Friday of that week (March 8), my mom, Jake, and Norah come to Germany!  I cannot wait!  It is going to be such a fun and exploratory time.  I feel like I have been waiting for this forever.  Ireland will be the week after that with my Momma and that is going to be super interesting too.  We are hoping the weather stays somewhat nice for the two weeks, but I think Mom and I are going to get rained on in Ireland.

Then of  course, I only have a few weeks until classes start and the whirlwind of activities begins again. Now, this isn’t official yet, but next semester I am hoping to take a German History class, a Film class, another Literature class, a basic German Language/Grammar class, and I will be participating in a theater production at the Institute for German as a Foreign Language (the international school).  It is going to be another busy semester because I am apparently incapable of taking things easy, but I am so excited for more learning and more growth in the German language.

And after all of that, I will be flying home (or more accurately, to Boston because we still do not know where we are moving).  I’ll get to see my Aunt and Uncle who live around there, and my big brother Jake before my mom and I fly to wherever we are stationed.  I know these next few months (only 5 more! Crazy!) will be filled with studies, laughs, adventures, and challenges and I cannot wait.

The first thing I am going to do when I get back into the states?  Get a severely needed haircut, LOL.  I have been too afraid to get one here because I do not know any salon terminology in German.  Oh well.

Have a pleasant week and be on the lookout for updates on my upcoming travels!
